Viva Vigan!

My Recent Escapade: Vigan City

Viva Vigan! It's on my bucket-list! I have always wanted to visit Vigan and I thank GMA for this opportunity to step on the grounds of Vigan City in Ilocos Sur.

Visiting the place is one my most memorable experience I have in GMA.

I was chosen as one of the field reporters for the World Costume Festival which was held for the first time in Vigan.

Vigan is one of world's most preserved heritage site as declared by United Nations.

The old town is approximately 8 to 10 hours ride from Manila. Just in case you are lost, you will need a google map/ iPhone maps, a good Internet connection and a fully charged phone. Yes! We got lost on our way to Vigan.

Getting around Vigan, first of all you need to hydrate and protect your skin. You would need a hat. Which you can buy at around 50-100 pesos only.

By the way, I was with my sister, Grace, touring around the heritage site.

We will need a ride. Kalesa ride for an hour rent costs 150php.

There is a way of figuring out whether the horse is make or female. Female horses have flowers placed on her head. See?

There's a difference between the terms 'Kalesa' and 'karwahe' although sometimes used interchangeably. A Kalesa is more of a public transport and a Karwahe is private and high-end/ high quality ride for high class citizens long time ago.

I recommend that you should never leave the city without taking a marvelous time touring around Vigan on board a Kalesa.
It's amazing!

First stop, National Museum located at Padre Burgos Street. Get to know more about Padre Burgos and his life.

Next, the Basilica.

The very old Bell Tower. Beside me (left) is Mrs. Cecille Quibod-Castro of GMA Cebu.

At nighttime, it's best to stroll around because it's cold and cozy. Night market comes to life.

Abel Ilocano is a must-have souvenir along with longganisa, empanadas and chichacorn.

More souvenirs ...

As for food, it's relatively cheaper in Vigan. Plus, they don't take advantage of the festival and raise they're prices.

Another must-visit, Tummy Talk and must-try food, yang chow Bagnet.

There you have it! I hope this will help especially to those who plan to visit Vigan soon.

By the way, here's some camera shots behind the scenes of the Viva Vigan World Costume Festival Special Coverage with Denielle Magno, GMA Dagupan.

Til my next trip!

The "All I've Ever Wanted" Box Review

Blogging through my phone now! Yep! But I'm using Blogger App now instead of Blogsy. I really really wish though that my Blogsy on my iPad be fixed as soon as possible. I missed blogging... And i missed you guys. So here it is! To start off our May, I decided to make a review of the item I bought last night.

So this box contains 72 eyeshadows. These palettes are round and small, like that of 25 centavo coin, mostly earth colors but includes my favorite hot pink, red with a twist of tangerine and those kinds of shades. Well, it seems like colors are repeated or maybe there's a bit of a difference but it's so minimal that some colors like lavender and other shades of violet look the same. What I love the most is that the colors are fit for everyday use. It's cool. Some are glittery and some are matte.

I don't use a base cream in applying eyeshadows but if I will try, then I will make another review. What I did today was to try using it with water. I dipped the brush to a clean and clear water just enough to wet the tip then chose a color and applied it. It looks nice though. Remember that there are palettes that are not water based and you will know it when you apply it. When it cakes after dipping the brush on water or if the color doesn't stick on the skin and becomes too dusty, then it's not water-based.

Moving on, there are 8 face colors: 1 face powder, 1 bronzer, 1 contour, 1 highlighter and 4 lovely blushers.
I love everything! The bronzer is the coolest. And good thing the face powder matches my skin tone.

There are 6 lip colors and so far, it's sticky and tight on my lips which I like. The colors are perfect for the earth colored palettes and there's red hot lip-smacking tint. In all fairness, Nyx's semi matte lipsticks are the best it gives a smooth finish and it's soft and gentle on lips.
These regular glossy lipsticks are of the best quality also.

Overall, for the SRP of 1,400 php, Nyx's The "All I've Ever Wanted" box is rated 9/10. It could have been perfect if the box includes my favorite Nyx's Eye pencils to complete the set. But hey gals you should go grab one!

April Fools

BEHIND THE SCENES of the photo shoot for the April Fools Day album of my Cherryfic Finds Shop.

It's fun to work with my family.

Grace and Dianne are my models and Wyndell of course is the Make-up Artist.

Grace is my sister and Dianne is my cousin. They may be newbies in modeling but they are improving every now and then.

My make-up artist, the one I always get whenever I have a stint is not the same make-up artist I have every morning at Una Ka Bai.

Wyndell is a stand-alone freelancer whose work is commendable, proven and tested. He is a simple make-up artist on the rise. You should get him. I will really recommend  him because he doesn't only have the Skills but also he has the right attitude. I know he will go far.

Well, I am the overall Production Assistant and at the same time Producer.  It's fun to work off camera although a bit tiring. I am the one who takes care of the clothes after it is modeled. I see to it that the clothes are in good condition.

Being an assistant.... a manager... a sister and a friend ....

I would like to thank Mr. Richard Amora, photographer / owner of  "A" Photographs Studio at Obrero beside the Brewery along with his buddies Ric, the editor and Master Mark, the master of all masters (lol) for the great captures and fun shooting experience.

OOOPS! By the way, watch out for this lovely blouse on AZTEC print soon at my shop. Yep! more designs and colors pretty soon darling.

Fashion Show for a Cause

March 24, 2013 - Saturday at D'Leonor Hotel I hosted a FashionShow for a Cause for benefit of those who are in need through Philippine National Red Cross.

I was personally requested by the owners of both Rogine's Beauty Care and D'Leonor Hotel to host the event.
Ms. Mercedita Lim, Owner of D'Leonor Hotel
Tita Susan Flores and Tita Gene Junsay, owner of Rogine's Beauty Care
Rogine's is a major sponsor of the said event. Tita Susan and Tita Gene went with me but before we went to the venue, they pampered me at their salon the whole afternoon. I'm so loved and well taken care of. Thank You Rogine's!!!

Wonderful staff of Rogine's

Rogine's Beauty Care Staff and Beauticians

My make-up artist, the most humble, talented and always on the go, Wyndell Samuya.

He can transform the not-so-pretty into a GODDESS. He is simply the best. Should you need his magic touch, I'd leave his number at the CONTACTS section up above... See?

Don Lanzar, my co-host is a professional. He is a businessman and the President of Jaycees, a civic organization who's committed for the success of each member in every endeavor such as business, etc. while doing charity works for others.

The show was also attended by Mr. Jake Cuenca who sang three adorable songs that night.

As for my gowns, I'd like to thank Ms. Angel Gabuni for my first outfit. The black and white tube with the tutu sequins skirt as the highlight. I'm a Barbie Girl.

Of course, Wedding Channel for being so generous they dressed me up with this elegant black semi-gown. It's a cocktail dress with long black chiffon wrapped around. It's fantastic.

Thanks everyone for a wonderful night. I don't often host events in the city now because of my tight schedule but I couldn't say no because my presence is already a contribution to the Philippine National Red Cross as they continue to serve the humanity.

xoxo,
